Around: Interviews with experts in deathcare, bereavement experience, and deathtech
Inviting guests in a series of interviews where we talk about the design and digital experiences in deathcare, deathtech, bereavement experience, grief, and the adjacent needs and practices.
While working on Around, I spoke to many experts and technology leaders in the deathcare and deathtech industry—the practitioners, coaches and consultants, independents and agencies, and we discussed the role of design and digital experiences in the near-death experiences or for the bereaved.
(To know about what we are building and why, see the Around memo.)
My discussions with them gave me an idea that I should do a series of interviews with them to share how they see this industry holistically.
I am so pumped to say that the interviews are shaping up very well, and our first post should be published in a few days. Here is how it works.
In each episode, I will ask only one question. The experts will answer the same question based on their experiences and for their personal viewpoint on that topic. Some of the questions will be around:
Where design has failed in the digital deathcare or deathtech systems —at least to build these at scale
What are the real-life challenges for the bereaved and what could be their expectations from technology? (We shall see some customer insights that we gained in the discovery phase.)
How alternate funerals and green funerals are getting the acceptance in certain parts of the world and what could be the way forward to help these gain more traction? (We shall see the success stories here.)
What kind of opportunities do the technology-driven businesses see—for what kind of models? (We shall see some examples too.)
The role of universities or of our education system in general
And few more.
If you are curious about the state of industry in deathcare, bereavement, grieftech, deathtech, and the role of technology in funerals and post-life planning, you can follow my Substack. I will start publishing the interviews from the next post.
And if you curious to see Around, here is one from behind the scenes. :)
